Cinco de Mayo Mexican Vacation: Cinco de Mayo Mexican Holidays are held annually on May 5 to celebrate Mexico's victory over France at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. Many people, especially Americans, consider that Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of the celebration of Mexico independence; however, the real Mexican Independence Day is on September 16.

In addition, the largest Cinco de Mayo celebration in the world is actually held outside Mexico in the Los Angeles California area. The next two Cinco de Mayo celebrations are held annually in Denver, Colorado, and on St. Paul, Minnesota. Each of the three major events attracts hundreds of thousands of participants each and every year.

The city of Chandler, Arizona holds a unique Cinco de Mayo celebration every year. This festival is known as the Chihuahua dog and all the shows are centered around this favorite Mexican small dog. There are even parades, races, and Chihuahua parades.

Here in the United States, Cinco de Mayo has become a popular holiday to celebrate Mexican culture and heritage. This is the time when families can gather, eat delicious Mexican food, dance with Mexican music, enjoy Mexican art, and much more.

There is no special food associated with the Cinco de Mayo celebration in addition to good quality classic Mexican cuisine. Big hits are usually enchiladas, burritos, guacamole, salsa, chips, and tacos. Drinks are usually mixed with margaritas, Corona beer, and soft drinks for children.

Because the colors of the Mexican national flag are green, white and red, most people decorate using these colors for their Cinco de Mayo celebrations. In addition, there is usually a bowl of chips filled with salsa for snacks.

If you are planning your own Cinco de Mayo celebration this year, you should make sure to plan ahead and send your invitation at least four weeks before your party day. Ask people to please RSVP so that you will know how many people will come. Also, if you have decent guests from Mexico, see if they can share your special and authentic recipes for food to be served in your party. After all, no one makes Mexican food better than Mexicans!

If there will be children attending your Cinco de Mayo celebration, visit a local party shop, or a Mexican food store, and buy cheap piñata. Fill the piñata with coins and sweets and let the kids at the party take a swing and open it. This can be a fun activity for children and adults.
